INVALUABLE LIFE LESSONS...

Whenever I've moved somewhere new, I've invariably found myself learning different lessons on how short life can be, or how we never know what a single moment in time can do to change the course of our lives forever. We’re fragile, life is fragile. Life is often unpredictable too.

The week after launching my VA Shoestring Programme (not The Freelancer), I went out to a party I was invited to in Crete, there was a man there, a very famous singer, who arrived barely able to walk on crutches, he had a very bad car accident some years ago and had only just started singing again after over 2 years of rehabilitation from his near death experience. The accident changed his life completely, forever, without warning, in a matter of moments… No time to prepare, no time to plan, it just happened.

A STORY OF REALISATION.

When I was living in Spain, I had a neighbour, he was from Tunisia and his wife was Columbian and they had been living in England together where they met, before moving to Spain. After becoming friends, he and his wife invited us over to their house for drinks, we sat there and learned that his dream was to move to France, and have a little house there. He loved France and often spoke about it, and we had lived there for a couple of years, so were able to provide some insight on what it’s like living in France – it excited him even further to pursue his dream.

One day I was walking past his garage and he was showing me some new wheel hubs he had bought for his car tyres, then about a week after that, he was out in the car driving and scarily had blacked out. Fortunately the blackout didn't cause an accident, but he went straight into see a doctor about the incident, and the doctor referred him to a specialist, and the specialist diagnosed him with a brain tumour – this tumour had likely been there for around 30 years, but had slowly been growing and applying pressure to his brain – they emotionally pushed them to surgery, and operated immediately.

Very sadly, about 4 weeks before we were leaving Spain to move to Italy, and only 3 months after the discovery of the brain tumour, he had passed away, he was in his early 50′s.

Do you find yourself planning things? Maybe you have been planning things for years, maybe your plans have plans. Over the years I have met people with plans, but the one thing is always certain, if you plan too far ahead, you'll never know if you’re going to make it, in the sense of your dream simply staying a dream...

WHAT MY EXPERIENCES REVEAL.

If you want to live a full & happy life, don’t wait for what you assume, presume or anticipate is the right moment to do what makes you happy, because the right moment is now. Don’t bank on everything working out just as you expect it to, and don’t trust that you can map out your life to the last detail, because sometimes (usually it seems) fate, coincidence and destiny spin out in different directions.

Are those obstacles that you feel are in your way really obstacles? OR, could they be excuses for not taking the plunge sooner?

Live for the moment, and start making your plans happen as soon as possible!
